A residential care home is a house located in a residential neighborhood that has been licensed to provide supportive care for seniors who need to be in a small group living environment because of the level of care they require.

These homes can have anywhere from 6 to 20 residents, living in either shared or private bedrooms, with shared kitchens, common areas and bathrooms (some private rooms do have their own bathrooms).
Residents receive one-on-one help with daily living activities and have the added benefit of a much smaller caregiver-to-patient ratio than an assisted living community.
